Comparison of structural differences between yeast β-glucan sourced from different strains of saccharomyces cerevisiae and processed using proprietary manufacturing processes
In this study in the journal Food Chemistry, researchers explored structural differences of five commercial samples of yeast β-glucan, including β-glucan content and the yeast storage carbohydrate, glycogen. The findings confirm that each proprietary source of yeast β-glucan has a unique purity profile, branching and linkage patterns that determine the chemical structure and composition.
Beverage Containing Dispersible Yeast β-Glucan Decreases Cold/Flu Symptomatic Days After Intense Exercise: A Randomised Controlled Trial
In this Journal of Dietary Supplements study, researchers compared the effect of dairy-based beverages containing 250 mg of Wellmune baker’s yeast b-glucan to a macronutrient and calorie-matched control on upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) in marathon runners. Consumption of Wellmune decreased URTI symptomatic days, specific URTI symptom severity and missed post-marathon workout days due to URTI, without affecting duration and number of URTI episodes.
Baker’s Yeast Beta-Glucan Supplement Reduces Upper Respiratory Symptoms and Improves Mood State in Stressed Women
This study in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition investigated the effect of Wellmune on upper respiratory tract symptoms and psychological well-being in women with moderate levels of psychological stress.
The findings show that Wellmune reduces upper respiratory symptoms and improves mood state in stressed subjects, helping to maintain immune protection against daily stressors.
Baker’s Yeast Beta-Glucan Decreases Episodes of Common Childhood Illness in Children Aged 1-4 during Cold Season in China
In this Journal of Nutrition & Food Sciences study, researchers evaluated the ability of Wellmune to reduce the number of episodes of common childhood illness in 174 Chinese children aged 1 to 4 years old. During a 12-week randomised, double-blinded study, children in the Wellmune group experienced fewer common childhood infectious illness episodes during the study, compared to the placebo group. Additionally, Wellmune was found to be well tolerated by the children.
Bibliography
Our larger portfolio of published clinical studies demonstrate Wellmune’s ability to support the immune health of the general population (across the lifespan from children to elderly), including those experiencing many different forms of stress such as exercise stress, physical stress and lifestyle stress. Additionally, multiple publications deepen our understanding of the key biomarkers impacted by Wellmune.
